Prawn Gravy / PrawnThokku

Prawn – 250 gms
Big red onion 1
Tomato – 2
ginger garlic paste – 1 TBS
salt to taste
chilli powder – 1 TBS
turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
Mint leaves 10
olive oil – 1 Tbs
Cumin seeds – 1 Tsp
Curry leaves 5
Cleaning
Mix the prawn with a little salt and turmeric powder and rinse it well. Set aside to drain.
Method
In a frying pan , add olive oil and then add cumin seeds.
Now add the curry leaves along with the onion. sprinkle some salt on the onion so that it will bring out the moisture in it quick. fry until golden.
Add the ginger garlic paste. Fry for 1 minute until the raw smell is gone.
Add the chopped tomatoes and let it cook for 5 mins with the lid on.
It is time to add the chilli powder, turmeric powder and cook for 1 minute. It will look very dry. At this point add the shrimp/ prawn/eral and mix.
Cook with the lid on for 5 mins. There is no need to add the water as there prawn will give away water by itself. After 5 mins , add the mint leaves and cook for another 5 mins until the prawn turns pink.
If you feel the gravy is a watery let it simmer until the desired consistency.
You can serve it with hot fluffy rice.
