Kadalai Curry – Black Channa Dhaal Curry

Ingredients

Black Channa Dhaal – 1 cup [ Soaked over night]

Big onion 1

Tomato 1

Oil 1 tbs

Cumin seeds 1 tsp

Curry leaves 10

Ginger Garlic Paste 1 tbs

Coconut milk 1/4 cup

Chilli  powder 1 tbs

Gharam Masala 1 tsp

Dhaniya powder 2 tbs

Turmeric powder 1 tsp

salt to taste

Method

In a Sauce Pan, Add oil and fry up the cumin seeds and curry leaves.

Add onion and some salt to help it cook out the moisture content.

After it turn translucent, add the ginger garlic paste and cook until the raw flavor goes off.

Add chopped tomatoes and cook until tender.

Now add the powders and cook for 1 minute

Add the coconut milk. let it boil. add the channa dhaal and pressure cook it for 10 mins or 3 whistles  

Let it cool down and open the cooker. 

Simmer the gravy if its too watery and garnish it with Corriander leaves
