Channa Biriyani

Ingredients:

Basmati Rice 1 cup

Channa 1/2 cup

Mint leaves 1/4 cup

corriander leaves 1/4 cup

Green Chillies 5 or more

Cinnamon stick 1

Salt to taste

water 1 cup

Oil 1 tsp

Ghee 1 tsp

Gharam masala 1 tsp

turmeric powder 1/2 tsp

chilli powder 1 tsp

Ginger Garlic Paste 1tbs

 big onion 1

Tomato 1

METHOD

Soak the Channa overnight and pressure cook it until tender. You can also use canned Garbanzo beans.

Blend Mint leaves, Corriander, gree chillies, tomatoes into a fine paste

In a pressure cooker, add some oil and cinnamon stick. Add the sliced onion and fry until golden brown.

Now add the ginger garlic paste. Add the blended paste along with chilli powder, turmeric, Gharam masala and fry for atleast 5 mins in high flame.

Now add the channa and Rice. Fry for 1 min.

Add one cup water , Ghee and salt to taste.

Close the cooker and let it cook for 10 mins in a low flame.

Turn off the cooker. Let it cool for 15 mins. Open and fluff the rice with a fork.

You can serve it hot with Raitha.
