Thuvaram Parupu ( thoor daal) chutney

Ingredients

Thoor Daal or Thuvaram Parupu = Half a cup. [ soak this for 2 hours ]

Dried Red Chillies – 8 to 10 According to your taste.

Salt to taste

Coconut Shredded If fresh – half a cup or Coconut milk Half a cup

Garlic cloves – 2 if big or 3 if small

Water 1 Cup

Grind All the above ingredients in to a very fine paste and Add water to dilute it. 

Oil 1 tsp

Cumin seeds – 1 tsp

Curry leaves a few

Shallots 3

Method

 In a sauce pan Add 1 teaspoon oil, 1 teaspoon Cumin seed and fry it. Add curry leaves. Add 5 Shallots or Small onion or half a big onion and fry until golden brown.

Now add the Above mixture and keep stirring until the daal cooks.

 The chutney will thicken real quick so please keep an eye on it.

 Once the chutney thickens please turn of the stove and serve it with Idly or dosai.
