Nandu (Crab) Masala

Nandu Masala Recipe

Ingredients
Crab 5 small
Onion 1 big
Two tomatoes chopped
Ginger garlic paste 1 tsp
Green chillies 3
Turmeric powder 1 tsp
Chili powder 1 tsp or more
Dhaniya powder with khas khas 2 tsps
Black pepper powder 1 tsp
Veg oil 1 tbs
Curry leaves
Fennel seeds 1 tsp
Cumin seeds 1tsp
Cinnamon bark 1
Cloves 5

For masala – blend the below ingredients into a fine paste.

Coconut 1 /2cup
Black pepper 1 tsp
Cumin 1 tsp
Fennel seeds 1 tbsp

Method –

In a heavy bottomed pan, add oil. Fry curry leaves, cloves, cumin seeds, fennel seeds and cinnamon bark.

Add the chopped onion and fry until golden.

Add ginger Garlic paste and fry until it doesn’t smell raw.

Now add the tomatoes and fry until tender.

Add turmeric powder, chili powder, salt and dhaniya powder.

I already have khas khas pre ground with Dhana powder. You can just add khas khas with the coconut masala and blend it together.

Now add the crab to it and cook covered for 2 to 3 mins.

Now add the ground coconut masala and mix it well.

Cook covered for another 15 mins.

Once the crab shell turns pink, it is fully cooked.
